THE Philippine Blu Girls went through a baptism of fire in the games at the 2014 World Cup of Softball held from July 7 at the Deanna Manning Stadium in Irvine, California.
Japan refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against Philippines, recording a 10-1 victory on Thursday.
With six runs in the first three innings, Japan left no doubt about the eventual outcome.
An outstanding effort by Valerie Arioto lifted USA to a 13-1 win in five innings over Philippines on Wednesday. Arioto hit two home runs for USA. Arioto went 2-4 in the game with five RBIs and two runs scored. Arioto homered in the first and fifth innings.
Canada beat Philippines 3-1 in seven innings on Wednesday behind Carey-Leigh Thomas, who went 3-3 at the plate.
She doubled in the first inning and singled in the third and fifth innings.
