Hitters took the center stage yesterday after Adamson and University of the East cruised to their second straight triumph in the Cebuana Lhuillier National Intercollegiate women's softball championship at the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City.

Pitcher Rizza Bernardino aided her superb pitching by going 2-for-2 with an RBI double in a three-run first inning to propel the defending champion Lady Falcons to a 5-0 blanking of University of the Philippines.

On the other hand, shortstop Marlyn Francisco smashed a two-run homer to highlight a three-run fifth as the Lady Warriors rallied from a two-run deficit to defeat Ateneo, 6-2.

Adamson and UE, last year’s finalists, improved to similar 2-0 records in the tournament sponsored by Cebuana Lhuillier, Cebuana Pera Padala, Le Soleil de Boracay, Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Just Jewel and Phiten.

La Salle rightfielder Gomez, meanwhile, smashed two homers as La Salle dominated St. Louis University of Baguio City, 16-6, in a game that lasted just three innings.

The Lady Archers bounced back from a 7-0 loss to Rizal Technological University on Monday.
