ADAMSON University and University of the East (UE) cruised to their second straight triumph in Day 2 on Tuesday of the Cebuana Lhuillier National Intercollegiate women’s softball championship at the Rosario Sports Complex in Pasig City.

Rizza Bernardino, not content in providing the wall in the Lady Falcons’ first line of defense by scattering four hits in a full seven-inning duty, was also at the forefront in offense and went two-for-two at bat for the defending champion Lady Falcons, who shut out the University of the Philippines Lady Maroons, 5-0.

Bernardino’s RBI double turned out the highlight of the San Marcelino-based sluggers’ three-run streak right at the bottom of the first inning that proved enough to beat the Lady Maroons.

The UE Lady Warriors, the runners-up last year, peppered Ateneo with nine hits for a come-from-behind 6-2 win.

Surprised by the Lady Eagles’ mighty stand in the early goings that saw Ateneo take a 2-0 lead after five frames., the Lady Warriors of Joy Lasquite regrouped just in time at the top of the fifth on a three-run-four-hit attack, including a two-run home run by shortstop Marlyn Francisco.
