The Amateur Softball Association is reviving the National Intercollegiate Women softball next year in an effort to tap fresh talents for future international competitions.

Team from the UAAP, two from SCUAA and three provincial squads are competing in the revival of the tournament which was stopped in 2007 due to lack of participants.

The participating teams are Adamson University, University of the Philippines, University of the East, University of Santo Tomas, Ateneo, La Salle, National University, Rizal Technological University, Polytechnic University of the Philippines, St. Louis University, University of Cordillera of Baguio City, and Central Philippine University of Iloilo.

“Three other teams also signified their intention to join the tournament,” said ASA-Phil Operations manager Jun Veloso.

Veloso said softball president Jean Henri Lhuillier promised to expand the tournament next year. (Clyde Mariano)
