Adamson U, Lakidende softbelles up

ADAMSON University and Indonesian team Lakidende sustained their blistering start with convincing victories yesterday in the Summer Grandslam National Softball Open Championship at Clark Freeport Zone in Pampanga.

The Lady Falcons, the defending champions, exploded for four runs in the first inning on their way to an 8-1 whipping of Chikara of Brunei, a team reinforced by former and current Philippine Blu Girls.

Lakidende blanked Rizal Technological University, 6-0, to also nail its second win in the tournament organized by the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines.

RTU bounced back by nipping National U, 3-2, on a Gina Bacus home run at the bottom of the eighth to even its card at 1-1.

Meanwhile, Air Force rose to second in men’s play after a 3-2 win over RTU in this event also backed by Cebuana Lhuillier, Phiten, Cebuana Lhuillier Insurance Solutions, Just Jewels, Pera Padala, and Le Soleil de Boracay.

The Airmen improved to 2-1 counting their forfeiture victory over Cebu.

In women’s club action, Polytechnic University of the Philippines pulled off two big wins over Sta. Maria (Bulacan), 13-0, and a young Cabiao National High School team, 10-3.
