Pinay softbelles, sabak sa Asian Championship

NAKATAKDANG mapasabak sa matinding hamon mula sa pitong malalakas na junior softball squads sa rehiyon sa darating na 7th Asian Junior (19-and-under) Women’s Softball Championship sa Mayo 13 na gaganapin sa The Villages Softball Field sa Clark, Pampanga.

Magiging mahigpit ang schedule ng Junior Blu Girls mula sa opener kung saan makakaharap nila ang China sa unang laro at Thailand sa pangatlong laban.

Ang iba pang mga bansang kalahok sa isang linggong torneo ay ang Chinese-Taipei, India, South Korea, Malaysia at Japan.

Ito ang unang pagkakataon na magsisilbing punong -abala ang bansa sa ilalim ng liderato ng Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (AsaPhil) na pinamumunuan ni sports patron Jean Henri Lhuillier bilang pangulo.

“We have consistently displayed a strong showing in softball across all front in the past years, even surprising the other Asian countries and winning their admiration and respect,” ani Lhuillier, na tinutukoy ang back-to-back na panalo ng Blu Girls noong 2017, silver medal sa 11th Asian Women’s Softball Championship sa Taiwan, gayundin ang Blu Boys’ silver medal feat sa 10th Asian Men’s Softball Championship sa Indonesia.

Sa iba pang opening day matches, makakasagupa ng Japan ang Malaysia at Korea.

Inorganisa ng AsaPhil para sa Softball Confederation of Asia at World Baseball and Softball Confederation, ang event ay suportado ng Cebuana Lhuillier Sports, Philippine Sports Commission, the Philippine Olympic Committee at ng Department of Foreign Affairs.
