Poised for a commanding return to the international stage, the RP Blu Girls are undergoing intensive preparations for the 2025 Women’s Softball Asia Cup, scheduled from July 14 to 20 at the Xi’an Physical Education University Softball Stadium in Xi’an, China. Driven by discipline and the unwavering support of Cebuana Lhuillier, the team is sharpening their skills, refining strategies, and building the momentum needed to take on Asia’s best.
A key force behind the team’s continued development is Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO Jean Henri Lhuillier, who also serves as President of the Amateur Softball Association of the Philippines (ASAPHIL). Under his leadership, ASAPHIL has elevated the team’s training program through expert coaching, structured conditioning, and consistent support. These efforts enable the athletes to stay focused and perform at their peak.
“I firmly believe that these young women, with the right blend of dedication and support, can bring the Asia Cup trophy home,” said Lhuillier. “We’ve seen their talent and heart. Now it’s our mission to give them everything they need to succeed.” His statement underscores a guiding belief: world-class outcomes start with world-class preparation.
Leading the team is Coach Steven Figueroa, a former Major League Baseball player recently appointed by ASAPHIL as the new head coach of the RP Blu Girls. With international playing experience and deep technical knowledge, Coach Figueroa brings a fresh perspective and elite-level discipline to the team. His leadership is expected to raise the bar in execution, teamwork, and competitive mindset as the Blu Girls face the best of Asia.
The RP Blu Girls will face nine of Asia’s strongest national teams—China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, and Chinese Taipei—as they compete for regional supremacy and international ranking points.
The 2025 Women’s Softball Asia Cup also serves as the official Asian qualifier for the WBSC Women’s Softball World Cup, raising the stakes as the continent’s best battle for coveted spots on the global stage.
With a dominant legacy that includes multiple Southeast Asian Games gold medals and a long history of regional success, the RP Blu Girls are determined to make a powerful statement in Xi’an.
“These young women are warriors,” added Lhuillier. “They represent the very best of what it means to be Filipino: resilient, fearless, and full of heart. Now is the time for all of us to rally behind them and show the world the power of Philippine softball.”
As the countdown to Xi’an begins, the RP Blu Girls are not just ready to compete. They’re ready to conquer. Fueled by preparation and national pride, they carry the hopes of a nation with every pitch, swing, and win.
