MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines barged into the super round after edging Czechia and Brazil for the third and last slot in Group B in the U15 Women’s Softball World Cup in Tokyo, Japan.
The Blu Girls wound up tied at No. 3 with the Czechs and the Brazilians with 2-3 records but emerged with the most runs scored to claim a spot in the next round where the top six countries fight for medals.
The country, bankrolled by Cebuana Lhuillier and backed by the Philippine Airlines, bested Czechia, 3-2, and lost to Brazil, 6-4.
The United States topped the bracket by sweeping it in five outings while Puerto Rico ended up at No. 2 with a 4-1 mark. The Blu Girls battle the mighty Japanese today.
